[Seattle Go Center] Full Weekend of Go April 6-7

Dear Go Players,

This Saturday, April 6, Dennis Wheeler will be at the Go Center from 1-7.  He will be available for beginner’s lessons and teaching games.  If you are a stronger player, note that you can play games that count towards your AGA rating, using our new self-pair tournament format.  Dennis can help you with that, too.

On Sunday, April 7, we have two tournaments.

The Monthly Ratings Tournament has registration from 12:15 – 12:45.

The Seattle Top Go Players’ Tournament will have the final session of the first round.  According to Sonny Cho, the Tournament Director, the battle is between Ho Son 7D, Edward Kim 7D and Chan Jeong 5D.  Members are invited to watch these high level games., and see who wins the Space Needle trophy.

The next round of the Top Player’s tournament will start on May 5.  All strong players are welcome to play in the tournament.  All games are played even, but there is some handicapping with reverse komi.  There is a cash prize plus a trophy.  The fee is $50 for the tournament, which will probably take 3 Sundays to finish.  Players who are not voting members of the Go Center will also need to pay an additional $3.50 a visit.

Cheers,

Brian

[Seattle Go Center] DDK Class Tonight: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (shapes)

Hi Everyone-

Tonight will be a lecture about how to make good shape.  We will discuss when to make Tiger's mouths (it's less often than you think), the bad things about bamboo joints, and have a fun conversation about "farming."

Thanks!
