Re: [ORE] Re: Mass Mind Control

I'm inclined to believe that on sight and on hearing are intended to be "the target just needs to be able to see/hear the user."  So a Radio or TV broadcast is a medium.  Read the other way the advantage is good for killing news anchors reporting live and little else...

I'm comparing this to Progenitor's Reddy March who has a sort of inverted type of power that frees people's minds which is described as being usable via radio broadcast:

Mind Freeing
Useful 2, On Hearing 1, Area 6 (this may have been intended as radius), Spray 1, Delayed Effect -2, Mental Strain -2

Without his flaws it's a 10pt/die power, swapping in Radius for Area it hits everything within 60 yards of its source (180feet, a lot of people in a crowd), with Spray he doesn't take penalties for creating multiple AOE's so hitting every speaker at an event or targeting a few high density locations where the broadcast is known to be playing should be manageable, then it's just a matter of getting enough sets.  Reddy had 10hd.

Not as familiar as I want to be with the system so far but perhaps use the Area extra? I know it reads as an explosion, but it seems as if your power would work in a similar mass fashion?  All in range of your voice, you being the center of the "detonation" and all those in range are affected.

Good evening,

Am taking a break from the debate about the election to write up some NPC's for my Progenitor game and am having trouble stating this up.
What I'm looking at is a mass Mind Control, vectored by the spoken word that works over the radio/telephone and can effect multiple targets and can only be resisted by those with Command 6d plus. What I have so far...

Mind Control
Useful
Range Booster +6 (for global range)
Sound of My Voice +1 (as "on sight" but for voice)
Speeding Bullent +2 (for Command rather than Coordination)

Am not sure how to enable them to effect multiple targets.
All help greatfully received.

Re: [ORE] Hyper Stat question.

He just needs Coordination 6 to dodge bullets.  Or he could take a Precog power or something with Defends.

I gave read through the posts on Hyper-Stats and could not find the answer to this question.
One of my players in Progenitor wants to have Interferes on his dodge dice pool and be able to dodge bullets, his natural coordination is 3d.

My suggestion.

  Hyper-Coordination (6/12/24) 3d (18)
Interferes (+3), If/Then (only for reaction and dodge rolls) -1

I have seen a post that states if you want an extra to apply to a stat pool you have to pay the extra's cost for all dice, which would raise the cost by 9 points. Is that correct?
Also, as in Progenitor no new powers may be bought after character creation, how would I deal with him training to raise his natural coordination? Would it be 8 points per dice, to allow for the Interference merit, or would I be better off adding a further 6 points to his hyperstat now to pay for that future potential growth?

Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

Re: [ORE] Mass Mind Control

I thought "on sight" meant on the user's sight. Like, I see you on the security monitor, and blast you with fire from the control room. Yes? No? Both?

I might make the "on hearing" merit better than on sight because blocking "on sight" is pretty crippling (closing your eyes in combat) while blocking "on hearing" is far less so (wearing headphones or earplugs is no real penalty), so that might justify the disparity with range.

your call though.

Thank you for your suggestions. Was basing "on hearing" on the "on sight" merit which states the target still have to be in range, even though that range need not be line of sight. Will take your advice on Speeding Bullet, it may be overkill.
