Position          : Java/Oracle Developer

Location         : Stamford, CT

Duration         : 1 year+ Extension

Interview        : F2F

 

We are looking for someone to join our highly talented team in developing and supporting a number of Java applications, both standalone, J2SE server-side and web applications. The candidate should have a strong software engineering background and a firm knowledge of the technical fundamentals required to build scaleable, performing, high-throughput applications.

 

The role will be to join a Java development team in developing new functionality for IBAS applications. These are high-performance, distributed data analysis and enrichment systems, based on core Java and IBM Ilog Jrules technologies. The role will then evolve to leveraging the similar architectures across the newly consolidated, UBS Group Finance IT team.

 

A successful candidate will demonstrate

-          Quick understanding of functional requirements and translation into technical designs

-          Ability to estimate work, plan and manage small-scale technical deliverables

-          Strong technical and team-working skills, acting as a Generalizing Specialist

-          Self motivated, looking to take responsibility for application design and implementation

-          Enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen to learn and help others learn

Required Skills:

-          Practical Java and Oracle experience

-          Operating Systems: proficient in development & deployment on both Unix, Linux, & Windows platforms

-          Object oriented design (incl. GoF Patterns)

-          Test driven development

-          Strong communication skills

-          Oracle PL/SQL

-          A fast learner, who can come up to speed quickly in a highly complex and dynamic environment

Preferred Skills:

-          Financial experience (preferably Investment Banking)

-          Experience designing & developing high-performance applications

-          Experience working with distributed teams

-          iLOG JRules exposure

-          Experience using Java frameworks, including Spring, Hibernate, and Ajax
