[ORE] Re: WT: Help me unbland this badguy

It would help if you were a bit more specific about what it is that
you find so bland about the character.

If it's something stat-related, you could probably solve it with a few
cool "If/Thens" on some of his more frequently used powers.

If it's something more character-based, then I would start by skewing
his Loyalties and Passions a bit to 'off-kilter' them.

The fact that you are concerned about the character's pitch and tone
at all, indicates that he is someone you want to bring into your game
a bit more frequently, and hence spend a good deal of time role-
playing as. So, let's look at these one at a time...

"Loyalty to the genetic sanctity of the human race."
What, specifically in your setting threatens this? Perhaps that could
lead to a few interesting prejudices on King Omega's part. If, for
example our genetic sanctity is being threatened by some form of life
that seeks to invade and infect humans (ala John Carpenter's "The
Thing,") then perhaps he also has a passion for seeing the invading
life form's eradicated, along with all who don't share the hatred. If
on the other hand, there is some new form of humanity that surpasses
us in some key ways, he could have a bitterness toward them, seeing
himself as the last, best example of what was great about the species'
"old guard" as it were.

"Passion for conquering"
With respect, if there's a bland taste in your mouth, I think it might
be coming from here. It's not a bad passion. Just a very frequently
used one. In every stock villain from the Cackling Madman to the
Pillaging Warlord, the desire to conquer is,... (when alone and
unmodified by specifics...) something that has been done to death. So,
again, here... ask why, what and how. Tie it back into his Loyalty in
some way. I don't want to offer too much here in the way of
suggestions, as it's your world and your character, but... Is he an
*opportunist,* seeing the anarchic chaos of the world around him as
the perfect arena for him to live all of his most fevered dreams of
ruling over others? Or, is he a (twisted) philanthropist, seeing
conquest as the best way to ensure food, water and prosperity to the
human race he venerates so highly? Is he perhaps (in his own mind)
fighting a war not only for the survival of the human race but for
their continued sovereignty as the dominant species on earth? If so,
maybe he sees himself as the embodiment of that superiority. "Humanity
is the rightful ruler of this world, and I am the rightful ruler of
humanity." etc. This one makes a lot of sense to me as he is called
*King* (a ruler) *Omega* (meaning "final" or "ulimate.")

Just a few suggestions.

P.S. Also, being that his name is King Omega, he totally needs a
finishing move called the "Big K.O."
