[Seattle Go Center] Sasaki sensei has arrived

Hello everyone,

I picked Sasaki sensei up at the airport today. To help him get over
jet lag (he flew directly from Tokyo where he lives) we did a nice quick
jaunt around Greenlake.

I found out that Sasaki sensei met Sakata sensei when he was only 7
years old. Sasaki sensei was a 7 year old (he learned go at the age of
4 or 5) playing at the strength of amateur one dan. Taking 7 stones he
and Sakata played to a jigo. Sasaki sensei's dad arranged the match to
see if he had any real talent.

At this years go congress, Sasaki sensei was asked by many people how he
ended up being a professional Go player. His response was his house had
no grass, no nintendo, etc. All the house had was Go books and go
equipment. So he had to play Go :)

It should be a great weekend at the Go Center,

Jon Boley
