[Seattle Go Center] We're still open

Dear Go Center Members,

While our difficulties with the Nihon Ki-in in Japan complicate the future of the Seattle Go Center, in my opinion there is no danger of the Go Center closing any time soon. Let me remind you that we have a lot happening in the next two months: The Ratings Tournament and School Team Tournament on April 29, The AGA - Tygem Seattle Pro Prelim on May 5 & 6, Outreach at the UDistrict street fair May 19 & 20, Youth 19x19 on May 20, Ratings Tournament on June 3, and the Guo Juan Workshop on June 16 & 17.  This is in addition to our regular schedule, where Tuesdays are always big.

What you can do to help the Go Center:

Keep Volunteering!  We provided over 90 volunteer hours at Sakura Con, and over 80 volunteer hours at Cherry Blossom.  That was great, but this Saturday, April 21, some our new friends may show up at the Go Center for lessons.  It would be great to have some volunteer teachers available, especially between 1-5 p.m.

Donate! The lawsuit with the Nihon Ki-in has brought new expenses, and the uncertainty has reduced our fundraising.  Yes, you can donate with Paypal at http://www.seattlego.org/donate/

Write about us!  This is a very good time to tell people about your activities at the Go Center and at outreach events.  (Leave the legal issues to the lawyers.)  You can post stuff to our Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Seattle-Go-Center  You can also join in discussions on www.lifein19x19.com   I'm sure you can think of many other places to spread the word about what's happening at the Seattle Go Center.

Kind Regards,

Brian Allen
