Dear Go Players,
The Go Center will be open tonight, Monday, July 22, for class and for games. I will be your substitute teacher tonight while Nick is traveling. I will consider the early history of Go in China, based on notes from Frank Fukuda, who has read the recent Japanese scholarship on the subject, and on my own readings of accounts that have been translated into English. (So far, I have not found definite evidence that Go was invented on a Tuesday night, but I will keep looking.) We will finish the 1 hour class by replaying the game attributed to the Emperor Wu of Jin and his vassal Wang Wuzi from about 250 A.D. Some of the moves look very familiar.
There will be time to play games after the talk.
Cheers,
Brian
