[Seattle Go Center] More about Self-Paired Games

Dear Members,

We have a system that enables you to play AGA rated games with another AGA member at the Go Center, anytime that the Go Center is open. It is called "Self-Paired Games". We tested the system last year, and it worked. Now is the time to make Self-Paired Games a regular feature of the Center.

To use the system, players find their opponents on their own. You may want to arrange with a friend to meet at the Go Center. Both players must be current members of the AGA, and that membership must be verifiable at http://www.usgo.org/search-ratings. (Note that this can take a while after one renews or joins.) Games are played with a clock, with a minimum of 30 minutes to a side, and without help from kibbitzers. The results are reported on the "AGA Self-Paired Game Reporting Form", which is on the 2nd desk near the entrance. The form is put in the jar on that desk. The results will be submitted to the AGA on a regular basis.

I think that the quiet times at the Go Center are a very good time for these games. That would include early on Tuesdays (1-4 p.m.), and most of Thursdays (2-9 p.m.), including Thursday evenings.

Cheers,
Brian Allen
