Dear Members,
Nick Sibicky will be teaching the Double Digit Kyu Class (DDK Class) starting next week, Oct. 19. In the meantime, Drew Barnett has volunteered to give a lecture this Monday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m. at the Seattle Go Center. No pressure, Drew, but our last substitute was a 6 Dan pro (Kuma Sensei) who spoke 3 languages ;-)
This class is DDK friendly, but probably of interest to stronger players as well. Please give Drew a warm welcome for his first Go lecture!
Cheers,
Brian Allen

Here is Drew’s program:
Hello everyone, I am Drew Barnett, recent 1d, and I will be teaching this coming Monday night's class. Some of you may know me for having an eclectic style of play, and I have spent some time preparing an hour length lecture for you all, hoping to shed some light on the particular (and some might say peculiar) way of looking at the game that gives my play its flavor. The primary focus of the lecture will be on shape analysis, building all the way up from a new player's basic rules introduction to calculating stone efficiencies in complex shapes. This should hopefully be helpful to brand new players and veterans alike, by providing a new framework for examining the age-old of question of "what's the best move?"
As always, bring some records of recent games or problems you are having trouble solving, we will have some time after the lecture to play and study some. Hope to see you there!
-Drew Barnett
