Re: [Seattle Go Center] Calling all Teachers!

If I may be allowed to add to Brian's request...

Don't worry about any lack of experience you may have teaching. Anyone can teach, and has something to offer. Often you don't need anything more than to just be able to explain the very basics, then play a game or two with them. And there will always be stronger players nearby to help explain deeper topics and strategies. (or trade opponents with)

We want to give every new visitor a chance to learn and play a game. If you can keep them interested and wanting to come back for more, then you've succeeded as a teacher. But even if they never play another game of Go, you've at least planted a seed that may grow in another generation, so again you've succeeded.

Subject: [Seattle Go Center] Calling all Teachers!

Dear Members,

Many more people are interested in Go, after hearing about the Lee Sedol – AlphaGo games.   Our website has triple the usual number of visits.  On last Saturday, March 19, we had 30 people visit the Go Center, many of them new players.
We need more volunteer teachers, both at the Go Center on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and at the spring festivals: Sakura-Con, Cherry Blossom Festival, and the U District Street Fair.  We especially need help this Saturday, March 26, when there will be new people coming to the Go Center, and we will also be doing outreach at Sakura-Con.  So please help out at the Go Center or the festival.  Our room at Sakura-Con will be the same as last year: Room 305 of the Washington State Convention Center (main building).  You do not need a pass to reach us.

Our full festival schedule is at:

Cheers,
Brian
