[Seattle Go Center] Children's Tournament Report - Oct. 23

Dear Members,

We had 8 players at the Sunday Youth 13x13/9x9 tournament, with five girls and three boys, ages 7 – 13.  All the games were played even, in four rounds.  The clear winner was Maya Altschuler, who won all her games.  Emma Huang was second, with three wins and one loss (to Maya).  Cayanna Henning and Savriel Henning tied for third.  I was impressed with how polite and considerate all the players were.  We had some confusion when a stone was dropped on one board and it disrupted the played pieces, but luckily a parent had been doing a video of the game, and so we got the game back in order.  This is the first time we have used video instant replay in a youth tournament.  All the players got to choose prizes, which included some nice Go sets that had been donated to the Center, as well as Go books and fun things from Archie McPhee.

Cheers,

Brian
