[Seattle Go Center] Go Board Refinishing and Relining Update

Dear Members,

You may recall that we recently had three of our table Go Boards refinished in Japan.  Those renewed boards are quite popular.  We are hoping to reline most of the rest of our table boards.  Sixteen more of them are quite worn.  (We play a lot of Go here.) The cost will be about $180 per board, including shipping to and from Japan.  Given the quality of our yellow cedar boards, we feel that this renewal is well worth the expense. Your donation will speed this project.

The next batch will be six boards.  As of October 25, we have enough donations and pledges to pay for our first three test boards, plus two more of the next shipment.  The gifts have been large and small, and we appreciate them all.  But we need $720 more before we can send the next batch off to Japan!

Donate or pledge now, if you haven’t already!

Cool Bonus: Donors who give us $180 or more may sign the back of one of our renewed boards in the center.  Donors who give us $50 or more may sign the back of one of our renewed boards in the corner.

Since we are a “501(c)(3)” public charity, your whole contribution is tax deductible on your federal taxes if you itemize your deductions.  Microsoft employees can get their contribution matched by Microsoft.   This may be possible with other employers as well, for example, Google.  (Note: we are listed under our formal name, the “Nihon Ki-in Go Institute of the West”, with EIN 91-1653572.)  You may contribute at the Go Center with cash or check, or online at:

We look forward to seeing you at the Go Center, playing on the renewed Go boards.

Cheers,

Brian
