[Seattle Go Center] DDK Monday + Everybody

Dear DDK Go Students,

Nick Sibicky will be on Spring Break the next two weeks.  For this week, we have brought in a 2 dan professional from the Nihon Ki-in to substitute.  Chang Ruei Jie, who is going by Ray Chang in the U.S., will give a lecture on AlphaGo from the perspective of young pro in Japan.  This will include a review of one or more games.   Ray will be giving the lecture mostly in English, but we have Frank Fukuda ready to translate more the complicated phrases.  Ray moved from Taiwan to Japan to study Go when he was 11 years old.  He lived with his Sensei, Takabayashi Takuji 6d, along with 5 other students.  He became a pro at age 14, and 2 dan at age 16.  He recently turned 19.  He speaks both Japanese and Mandarin, and is currently studying English.

The lecture is free for everybody, and it will start at 6:30 p.m.

Cheers,

Brian Allen
