[Seattle Go Center] Advanced Go Class starts today!

Hello everyone,

For the "Advanced Go Class" series, we will have our first gathering tonight at 7pm. For those who are interested but have not got a chance to register online, you are more than welcome to attend and register on site. This four-week-long class series will be a great opportunity for every Go player who is eager to improve his/her Go skill and, more importantly, to significantly advance his/her understanding of the game.

During each 2.5-hour-long class, every student will be actively engaged in all activities. For today's class, at first I will give a lecture on how we should view the value of each move, and, the change of the value of each move as the game proceeds. After that, I will play simul games with every student (with no handicaps). The purpose of the simul games is not to win and we do not have to finish the whole game. Instead, the purpose is to discover the weaknesses existing in everyone's play. After the openings, we'll pause and I will give reviews and point out the problematic moves. Then we'll resume and proceed to the middle games, followed by reviews..... There will be a break roughly in the middle of the class.

I look forward to seeing you tonight!

Best,
Yue Zhang
