[Seattle Go Center] Schedule Changes for Summer

Hello fellow Go enthusiasts,

Summer is upon us, and with it, some changes to our regular weekly schedule.

Wednesdays -- Today (6:30-8:30 PM) is the last day (until early September) of Programming Go AI, led by Drew and Eric. It has been popular and successful, and we expect to reboot it shortly after Labor Day, so watch for announcements in August. So what will be happening at the Go Center on Wednesdays? Right now, I'm not sure. I am trying to arrange a class for SDK players; and if that doesn't happen, then maybe we'll be open just for friendly games. Or maybe we'll be closed on Wednesdays over the summer. I should have an announcement by the weekend, one way or another.

Thursdays -- Mingcun Fan will be opening the Go Center at 2:00 PM on Thursdays, and Larry Eclipse will be teaching the Complete Beginners class, 6:30-8:30 PM. The Go Center will close at 9:00 PM on Thursdays (or a little earlier if attendance is light).

Fridays -- closed (no change).

Saturdays -- Open 1:00-8:00 PM with Dennis Wheeler; including Shogi with Brandon on the 3rd Saturday. We'll be suspending the 2nd Saturday Speed League Go tournaments since attendance has been very light.

Sundays -- closed, except for tournaments on the 1st Sunday of the month (no change).

Mondays -- Nick Sibicky is on summer break, and his DDK lectures are on hiatus until early September. Drew Barnett is stepping forward with a series of lectures on the fundamentals of Go on Mondays, which will be quite edifying. I think it will be the same 6:30-8:30 PM time slot, so watch for a more detailed announcement in a couple of days as Drew gets his plans fleshed out.

Tuesdays -- (no change) The Go Center will be open for the largest weekly gathering of Go players in North America (and possibly the Western Hemisphere), 1:00-10:00 PM, with informal instruction for beginners available after 3:00 PM, and Chris K.'s marvelous fresh bread most Tuesdays (I'm sure he'll be in Wisconsin in for a couple of weeks in July, during the Go Congress).

See you soon at the Go Center,

(A bad duke.)
