[Seattle Go Center] No DDK today; Go Center closed but we can play online; watch out for scams

Hello fellow Go folks,

DDK canceled
A reminder that Dr. Nick's DDK class is canceled tonight, and further sessions are on hold until the COVID-19 crisis has abated. This may be a good time to review previous lectures:

Go Center remains closed
The Go Center will be closed at least another week. Current guidance from the CDC is that events with 50+ people should be canceled or postponed until the middle of May; and in King County, gatherings of 10 or more are prohibited unless a slew of precautions are observed, with no stated timetable for lifting these restrictions.

Go on the 'Net
Fortunately, we still can play Go via the Internet. Based on the poll results we got back, we've established (or in some cases, renewed) chat and play resources listed here:

The *other* Washington
Also, the National Go Center is thinking to set up an East Coast vs. West Coast league. Players of all strengths would be welcome. So far, a half-dozen Seattle players have expressed interest. If this sounds like fun to you, please complete the form at the bottom of:

Beware of scams
I was reading a blog by a board game player in Italy, who said one of the things that's been happening is that burglaries have increased, and scam artists are preying on elderly folks more with two main kinds of scams. One is selling preventatives and cures that don't actually work, and the other is pretending to be from a social services agency. Once they get in the door, they use charm and con artist trickery to defraud people, or simply steal valuable items. I'm sure the Seattle area will be experiencing an increase in this kind of crime too, so please be on guard, and help watch out for people who may be vulnerable.

See you (later) at the Go Center,

Mike Malveaux
