Re: [ORE] Re: A Bit Off-Topic, But, Not Really... (Acrobat)

I was also going to recommend InDesign.  I've played with Scribus, and found it a poor substitute, but that was over two years ago, and progress may have been made in the interim.

Religion, or the duty which we owe our Creator, and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force and violence; and therefore all men are equally entitled to the free exercise of religion, according to the dictates of conscience.

Adobe InDesign would have been a better fit for this kind of work. There's also an OSS (free) application called Scribus that may suite your need.

Most of what I'm doing layout for is work-related projects. A few primers, some things I'm trying to get published. It all breaks down to pretty much the way a good character sheet is laid-out, coincidentally.

Artwork around borders, graphics and text overlapping in some places, text fitting around non-linear-edged illustrations, etc.

What *is* a good program for it? I'm open to all kinds of suggestions at this point. I'm still right at the very beginning of the learning process. I graduated from a graphic-design vocational school (fifteen years ago). So, I'm familiar with the work, but not at all current.

Adobe TV is a great resource.

Acrobat isn't a (good) program for doing layouts. What are you wanting
to accomplish?
