Re: [ORE] [Wild Talents] Invulnerable vs non physical attacks

There's a specific comment in the description of Invulnerable in the Miracle Cafeteria where the Useful quality, with variable effect, is used to extend the power's Defends quality to other types of attacks.

Basically, you can buy Invulnerable without the Useful quality (which costs 5 points per die, so it's not cheap) and be invulnerable to one type of attack, or you can buy the Useful quality and morph your power so that you're invulnerable to multiple types of attacks. The wording is such, though, that it suggests that Useful allows you to extend Invulnerable to other types of physical damage. It's up to the GM whether it extends to any other type of attack, or whether you think the character really needs a second Useful to extend the power to non-physical attacks.

To me it is a simple matter of the quality definitions. Attacks quality attacks, Defends quality defends, and Useful does neither. Useful could counter some other Useful effect, but it can't stop combat damage, because that's Defends' job.

But the HAR and LAR won't protect a non-physical attack. Adding variable effect would help.

Now, the non-physical attack should have a defined non-standard defense, as well. Maybe the variable defense can be defined as "only to adapt to non-physical attack" or something.

My problem exactly so would the har and lar stop the attack...? That's defense no? Also I was thinking if the useful kicked as soon as he felt the telepathic presence and became invulnerable to it would he even need to defend. What if it's wider so stronger/faster...ie. before the useful could kick in (baring interference) or just to strong for invulnerable.
