Dear Members,
Chihyung Nam, a professional baduk player from Korea, and a Professor of Baduk Studies at Myongji University in Korea, will be visiting Seattle with her husband for about ten days. She has visited us at least twice before. She will be playing simultaneous games on Tuesday, Feb. 7, starting at 6:30 p.m., and leading a discussion on Wed., Feb. 8, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Nam wrote the book “Contemporary Go Terms”, which compares Go terminology across four languages: English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. As far as I know, it is the only book of its kind. It was published by Oromedia, but unfortunately it is out of print. On Wed., Feb. 8 she will lead a discussion of “Contemporary Go Terms”, and related issues with playing Go at international events. We encourage players at all levels, and of course, of all languages, to come to this event. It will be free.
Ms. Nam may be at the Go Center at other times; we will keep you posted.
Cheers,
Brian
