[Seattle Go Center] Weakly Kibitzer -- "Advanced Go" tonight; "Breaking into SDK" canceled; etc. )

Sorry about that unterminated parenthesis last time.  I was in a hurry, and forgot to finish the subject line.  Hopefully it
didn't give nightmares to any Lisp programmers here.

**Breaking Into SDK Thursdays**
The "Breaking Into SDK" class will no longer be happening on Thursdays because Jonathan Cheng no longer available.  It
had a good run, and I'll be working to get something similar into that schedule slot.  (Any players stronger than, say, 3k
who want to try their hand at teaching, let me know.)
The Thursday classes for "Complete Beginners" are still going (with Larry Eclipse, 6:30 - 9:00 PM).

**Advanced Go Wednesdays and Sundays**
There have been two sessions of Yue Zhang's "Advanced Go" class (for players 9k - 6d), and there are six left to go,
including tonight at 7:00 PM.  Sign up in person, or at http://www.seattlego.org/advanced-go-class-june-july-2018/

**Social Media stuff**
I keep forgetting to mention --
If you use Facebook, the Go Center has a page:  https://www.facebook.com/SeattleGoCenter/
If you use Twitter, the Go Center has a feed:  @SeattleGoCenter
If you use Instagram, I'm trying to start a feed, but I haven't yet figured out to start an account that's not my personal
account.  Meanwhile, I'm using my brand-new personal  Instagram account to put up occasional shots of stuff at the
Center:  https://www.instagram.com/comeplaygo/ - @ComePlayGo (If you're adept at Instagram and feel like teaching
an old dog new tricks, please get in touch!)

**Go Fiction**
Emma Huang shared with us a story she wrote, which I found delightfully entertaining.  It's on Facebook in the Seattle
Go Center "notes" section.  (There's probably a way to paste a working direct link, but that "old dog vs. new trick"
schtick applies here too.  Ask me about rec.games.go and playing on Go servers via Telnet sometime!  "Back in my day,
we had social media, but without all these frippery gew-gaws" etc.)

**Volunteers**
The Go Center is doing outreach at a couple of weekend Japanese cultural festivals in July:
Sat. 7-7 and Sun. 7-8 - Japan Fair 2018 - Bellevue - http://japanfairus.org/
Sat. 7-21 and Sun. 7-22 - Bon Odori festival - International District - https://seattlebetsuin.com/index.php/bon-odori-
festival/

Mark your calendars, and watch for a couple of emails soon about these events.

**Tuesdays**
Still going strong!  (Chris K.'s bread, too!)  I'm not sure exactly why, but we keep having 25 players.  An encouraging
thing is that it's been a mixture of regulars, brand new players, and people in between -- they get to the Center a couple
of times a year, or once every couple of years.  I'm really, really glad we're still here for all of the above!

There's more to say, but this is already longer than usual.  Not every game has to end in counting.  Thanks for your
attention!

See you at the Go Center,

PS - Ned Beebe shared this insight from the Psykotherapy Diagnostic Manual:
The tendency to reduce complex situations to terms of black and white, life or death, is a symptom of ko-dependency.
One of the signs of being in a ko-dependent relationship is getting caught in a series of threats and struggles with each
other.

Thanks Ned!  ;-D
