Hello fellow Go enthusiasts,
Recent events impel me to remind everyone -- when parking at the Go Center, please make sure nothing that would tempt a thief is visible in your car. And it's probably a good idea in general not to leave valuables in your car when visiting the Go Center.
I regret to report that there have been a couple of car break-ins in our parking lot over the past several weeks. In one of them, a backpack was taken (luckily, not one of our members). In the other, it seems nothing of value was taken, but the thieves did ransack the car, and tear out the rear-view mirror for some reason. (Unfortunately, that car does belong to a new member of the Go Center.)
Also, a bicycle was stolen from our lobby a few days ago. It was locked with a flimsy cable, which the thief sawed through. I expect that a more secure lock system might have deterred the thief from making the attempt. Thanks to a *very* quick response from Nick Wilmes, we did get the bike back.
If you see someone in the parking lot shining a light into the windows of parked cars, please alert the Go Center's manager / day manager on duty.
We have three security cameras; one in the lobby and two viewing the parking lot. This is a separate system, not connected to the internet. The video is stored about 3 weeks before it is written over. We can copy video for the police if needed.
See you soon at the Go Center,
Mike Malveaux
