Hey, members, let's have another fun Pair Go night!! We will actually play the original form, called rengo, that does not require one of the pair to be female, but we will set the entrance fee to encourage bringing new folks or significant others for a fun evening.
This event is particularly fun-oriented, and traditionally people dress up in fancy garb or costumes. SGC will provide Mighty O vegan donuts and two nice cakes, and some nihonshu. Please bring other food for yourself or to share (fruit, gluten-free, etc), as well as other alcohol (BYOB).
What makes Pair Go so fun is you cannot talk to your partner, and the time control is 45 min hard stop (you must complete all moves within 45 min).
There is no pre-registration, but we would appreciate if you would respond letting us know you plan to come and if you plan to bring a partner. We can pair people who show up singly, so please come. Ideally, a multiple of 8 people shows up, but we can work with a multiple of 4. The more the merrier for sure!!
These are not rated games, so you do not need to be an AGA member to play.
* 6pm -- registration and mingling, perhaps have a drink (BYOB)
* 7pm -- first round, 45 min, hard stop
* 8-8:45pm-ish -- desserts, mingling, perhaps a second drink
* 9pm-ish -- round two, 45 min.
* 9:45ish -- free play or hanging out as people wish
We need to charge an entrance fee to help pay for the nice desserts and nihonshu -- $10 per person if you bring a new player or someone who only comes to pair go events, $10 voting members who come singly, $20 non-voting members who come singly (do not punch your 10-punch card).
