Re: [ORE] Always On and Nullify?

Hi, Rodolfo.

I was cleaning out some emails, and I didn't see a reply to this.

My understanding is that if the villain hits the PC with Nullify, the PC's armour disappears. It's gone, and he turns into a normal human being. The armour no longer works and, if it's like the Thing's armour where the character's body has been physically altered, the PC looks like a normal human being.

Once out of the effect of the Nullify, the armour can be restarted by the player. The player rolls the dice in their pool, and the power turns back on with a success. That dice roll is the roll the player uses from then on. If the player bought the armour with hard or wiggle dice, this won't be a problem. If they used regular dice it could take the armour a while to return, or when it returned it might be back to full strength.

This was actually a plot point in issue #50 of Marvel Two-in-One. The Thing is all depressed about being all brick-like. Reed Richards created a serum to get rid of the effect, but it would only work in Ben Grimm's early "lumpy" phase. It wouldn't work in his current form. So, Ben takes the serum back in time using Dr. Doom's time machine and gives it to himself (after a fight where The Thing fought The Thing) to get rid of his power. The power wears off from his earlier self, but his current self is still The Thing. He goes back to the normal timeline, but he's shocked to find out he's still The Thing. The serum had no effect on the current Ben, as he can't change the past. His time travel created an alternate time line.

The serum in that issue is essentially a Nullify power attached to a Focus with a Permanent extra.

Hello, I'm new to GMing Wild Talents and I can't seem to find the answer in the PHB.

One of the PCS in the game I'm running has a permanent The Thing kind of armor going on. If I were to make a villain that could nullify it, what exactly happens?
